Connecting the past to the present to promote healing and growth in relationships and beyond

Welcome to your Peace! My name is Maricia (MAH-ree-sah) Beach and I believe in taking an outcome-focused approach to psychotherapy, helping to achieve change and promote healing. I am a survivor of childhood trauma myself, so I know what it's like to struggle with symptoms like anxiety and depression. My primary focus is trauma recovery and I can help you make connections with the past to the present experiences, increase body and mind awareness, and feel emotionally safe with yourself and others. I love seeing clients like you experience breakthroughs in your own time. I have a background in education, so I love to teach new skills, and over 7 years of experience in the mental health field working with couples, adults, Veterans, active duty military, and others. I am temporarily licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy and will be meeting my full licensure requirements by the conclusion of 2024. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, Gottman, and somatic-based (body) interventions to help with managing the outcomes of trauma and introduce you to different ways of coping.
I always tell the couples I work with, "It is never about the thing". What this means is when we are in conflict and it blows up, it is likely about a deeper unresolved issue. All roads lead back to childhood experiences as this is our blueprint for future interactions. If you and your partner find yourself disconnected and at odds, it may be because of unmet needs, unresolved trauma, unacknowledged triggers, or feelings of abandonment and rejection. More than likely, it is much deeper than dirty dishes and burnt toast. I can help you get to the root of the issues and grow closer together.
You have survived the trauma from the past, so now what? What happens now is reconnecting the mind and body and building self-esteem. Trauma recovery takes time, effort, and transparency. It is a marathon and not a sprint. I will never make you talk about the bad things you have been through unless you feel comfortable dong so. The, "what" is not as important as the, "why". So, if you find yourself asking, "Why can't I turn my brain off?" "Why do I not have any friends?" or maybe, "Why can't I say no?" I can help you explore patterns and beliefs related to trauma exposure and begin the process of true healing.
